How to make a DIY heart wreath with ribbon

1 | Layer the ribbons

If you are using two ribbons, layering them before putting them on the wreath form makes it easier to keep them even.

To do this, put the narrower ribbon on top of the wider ribbon making sure that it is centered.

Then staple it about every 6 inches along the length of the ribbons.

2 | Attach the ribbon to the wreath form

To attach the ribbon, turn the heart wreath form over.

Then wrap the end of the ribbon over the inside wire close to the bottom of the heart.

Make sure the the end of the ribbon is facing the back of the wreath form.

If you want to make sure it stays in place, you can tape the loose end to the back of the ribbon. Although with wired ribbon, it should stay in place pretty well without doing this.

Run the rest of the ribbon under the front middle wire and over the outside wire. This helps to keep it from coming undone.

3 | Wrap the ribbon around the wreath form

Angle the ribbon up towards the top of the heart.

Then wrap it around all of the wires making sure to overlap the edges of the ribbon.

Keep going around the wreath until you get back to the start of the ribbon.

Make sure to cover the open middle wire before cutting off the ribbon at the back of the wreath.

To get around the bottom corner of the heart, wrap the ribbon horizontally across the bottom (on the front). That will allow you to change the direction on the back and go up the other side.

4 | Secure the end of the ribbon

To secure the loose end of the ribbon, staple it to the layer beneath it.

Then put a strip of tape across the cut end to prevent it from unraveling.

5 | Add a hook

Stick a T-pin or floral pin at the top of the back of the wreath.

The ribbon should be thick enough to keep the pin in place.

The finished wreath makes a statement hanging on a wall or your front door.

This one is made with a single ribbon that had an edging. So layering wasn’t necessary.
