Boot Cuffs!

I know I said I would do one crochet X Stitch pattern each month, but when I released the Fingerless Gloves last week, they were just begging for a pair of matching Boot Cuffs, so here they are!I used my version of the Modified X Stitch (you can find a tutorial here), offset with a row of single crochet and a ribbed wrist. You can add bows, buckles, buttons or whatever you like to “fancy” them up too!

I made them with the buckles and bows to match the gloves

But I think they look equally lovely just plain!

X Stitch Boot Cuff

Cuff:

The cuff is worked in rows and seamed, then, you will add rounds for the top.
Work 1st and last stitch in both loops, work all other stitches in Back Loop Only (BLO)
Join in both loops (not just Back Loop)

Row 1: Ch (10, 10, 12, 12), sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. You will have (9, 9, 11, 11) sts for remainder of cuff rows.
Row 2: Ch1, turn, working in BLO, sc each st to end.
Repeat Row 2 (32, 36, 42, 48) more times.
Last Row (joining seam): Ch1, turn, bring both ends of cuff together and match sts, working through both layers, sl st to close the cuff. Do not fasten off.This is the Wrong Side of the cuff.

Top:
Turn inside out so that Right Side is facing you. You will be working in rounds to complete thetop.See tutorial for XSt explanation.
Round 1: Ch1, working along side of each row, sc in each row (34, 38, 44, 50) sts evenly around. Join with sl st to beg sc.
Round 2: Ch3, work dc in st directly to the right of your ch3 – beg XSt made, XSt around to end. Join with sl sto to top of beg ch3.
Round 3: Ch1, working in BLO, sc in each st around. Join with sl st to beg sc.
Rounds 4 to 7: Repeat Round 2 & 3, two more times.
Round 8: Repeat Round 2.
For the last round you will need to work the stitches very loosely to allow for maximum stretch. It might be helpful to go up a hook size or two.
Last: Working in BLO, sc around, join. Fasten off.

Bow:
Round 1: Ch12, sl st in 2nd ch from hook and next ch, sc next 7 sts, sl st next st, [sl st, ch1, sl st] in last ch; working around other side of beg ch, sl st next st, sc next 6 sts, sl st last 2 sts, ch1, join to beg sc.
Round 2: Working in BLO, sl st next 2 sts, sc until there are 2 sts left, sl st next st, [sl st, ch1 sl st] next st; working around other side, sl st next st, sc until there is 1 st left, sl st last st, ch1, join to beg sl st. Fasten off.
Cut a piece of yarn about 10” long, cinch bow in center and tie the yarn strand around it into a knot, in a decorative manner wrap the yarn around several times to form the “bow”. Tie securely and use loose ends to sew in place. If you prefer, add buckles, buttons or bows.
